Year 3 Autumn Term Curriculum Letter 2017

Home Learning - 26th May 2017

Keep a diary of what you do during the Half Term break then bring it in to school to share it with your class on the 6th June 2017.

Keep practicing the Year One, Year Two and Year Three common exception words and the 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x and 10x tables. 

Make time to have some fun and enjoy your break.

Home Learning 12th May 2017

We have been learning about light sources, how we see objects and how light is reflected. Look around your home and when you are out and about and make a list of all the light sources you find. You can also use this web link to play a game about light. Click the link to open it.

Home Learning - 17th March 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

Just a reminder of the FUN activities your child could be involved with at the local Redbridge library. 

A few of the regular ongoing clubs and activities available are:

Chess and games clubs and Reading Buddies throughout the Spring and Summer Terms.

 

During the Summer half term there will also be some maths activities to explore in a fun way -

  • Number Bonds (31st May - 10.30 to 11.30am)  
  • Times Tables (30th May - 11.30am to 12.30pm)

Home Learning - 10th March 2017

Collect all your materials to make your roundhouse at school. Bring all your materials in to school on Monday 13th March 2017.

Reminder:

Please continue to practise your tables for - 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 10.

Also remember to practise spelling the Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 common exception words. This will help you with your writing. Remember to use joined up writing! 

World Book Day - 2nd March 2017

We all had a lot of fun reading and doing different reading activities throughout the day! We also came to school dressed up as our favourite story book character. Throughout this week Year Three focused on the Julia Donaldson book 'The Magic Paintbrush'. On Friday our parents came to share books with us in class.

Do some research about Celtic Roundhouses which were built a long time ago. What materials did they use? 

We are going to make Celtic Roundhouses at school after half term. Start to gather some materials that you may use for own round house and bring it into school after half term. Here are a few examples of what materials you could use and and how you could make it at school.

Home Learning - 13th January 2017

As we have come to the end of our Autumn topic - Exotic Egyptians - talk about what you have learnt about Ancient Egypt.

Practise counting in 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s and 10s. 

We got our Spring topic ,Time Travelers, off to a Stunning Start with our Big Dig! We were archaeologists for the morning and we discovered lots of old, buried treasures!

Our Fabulous Finish for our Autumn topic 'Exotic Egyptians'

We worked with a partner to create a Powerpoint Presentation then we presented what we had learnt to our parents. We were also very proud to show our parents the shadufs and non-fiction booklets we made about Ancient Egypt.

Home Learning - 6th January 2017

We have been learning about angles - right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles. Look around your home and see how many of these angles you can find.

 

REMINDER:
Monday 9th January 2017 - 2.15pm - Year Three classrooms 
Children must bring in their clothes to dress up as Ancient Egyptians for our Fabulous Finish.
Parents are invited to attend to find out what we have learnt about Ancient Egypt.

We made pyramid Christmas cards to link with our Exotic Egyptians topic.

Our Christmas party was so much fun! We had our party food, did some dancing and played games. We even had a visit from Santa!

How did you feel when we were going? How did you feel when we had to come back to school?

 

D&T - materials for our shadufs

Please remember to collect and bring in the materials you need to make your shaduf. The materials need to be in school by Tuesday 22nd November 2016.

We celebrated Diwali during our Diwali Assembly.

Our parents came to a special Diwali Coffee Morning where they were able to share food with each other and watch our Diwali Assembly.

Ancient Egypt - Stunning Start - Tuesday 13.9.16

On Tuesday we will be having our stunning start for our new topic - Ancient Egypt.

Children should come to school dressed like someone from ancient Egypt. They could dress up as Cleopatra, a pharaoh, a mummy, etc. 

Talk to your child about who they would like to be and help them to get their costume organised.
